Creating a positive impact on the lives of others is one of the greatest gifts you can give. I am so grateful to be able to incorporate design to support my local community. I hope to inspire others to live in gratitude, give back, and make a positive impact around them. Not just during the holiday season but throughout the year.
For these reasons, my family and I are excited to partner with Champions of Change. It is their mission to empower people of all ages, cultures, and backgrounds to serve as “change agents” in their communities who perform “little deeds that have a huge impact.” Their desire is to make the world a better place by giving back and helping those who are less fortunate through charitable outreaches.
Some of their previous community outreach events have included:
• Thanksgiving feed a family that provided nearly 11,000lbs of food to needy families in Rochester, NY.
• Homeless Christmas Parties for nearly 1,100 homeless men, women, and children. They also provided brand new hats, mittens, gloves, hoodies, haircuts, and hot meals. And, of course, Jolly Old Saint Nick made an appearance as well!
• Princess for a day was an event at Walt Disney World for 25 girls living in foster care. The princesses had a once in a lifetime opportunity.
• Spa Day for Homeless Moms, the ladies are treated to a gourmet breakfast, pampered with manicures and pedicures, and showered with gifts to celebrate them like the queens they are.
My family and I are specifically volunteering for their Hotels for the Holidays project this season. We have committed to decorating a hotel room this Christmas Eve morning to allow homeless kids to wake up in a beautiful hotel instead of a shelter on Christmas Day. This opportunity allows us to give back while doing what I love! If you’d like to know how you could get involved, I encourage you to check out the organization at www.championsofchangeusa.org.
Have a blessed holiday season!
